Happy New Year my beautiful, gorgeous friends. I hope you’ve been well. I have so much to catch you up on, I feel like it’s been forever since we last spoke.
Let me begin by letting you know that the saying ‘New Year, New Me’ does not need to be a thing. You do not need to put stress upon yourself by trying to be a new person just because society says so. 2023 is the year we decide trends are so 2022, being our own person and making our own rules, now that’s the real TREND. One thing I will do this year however is not binge donuts or a Coca Cola when I am in stressful situations to cope. That’s my safe place and it’s not a good one. I will be making sure I find healthier and better ways to deal with my stress, after all STRESS may as well be my middle name!
Crohn’s & Colitis New Campaign
I must catch you up on something super exciting, I have been working alongside Crohn’s and Colitis UK to bring you an amazing new campaign ‘Cut the Crap’. Crohn’s and Colitis have created a symptom checker which they have worked alongside GP’s and clinicians to get right. It takes literally 30 seconds of your time to fill out, this will then let you know if you have symptoms of what maybe IBD – it then gives you an option to send your results via email so that you can present it to your GPS and demand for a test.
My story and journey were filmed and presented in front of MPS at House of Commons and I had the honour of also being there when they watched it. I am so pleased to announce not only was it a huge success but also the last time I spoke to CCUK 20k people had already done the symptom checker! I cannot believe my video has pushed 20k people to do this. It means so much to me because my goal is to stop what happened to me from happening to anyone else and get diagnosis’s done as early as possible. After all, once diagnosed you can begin to get treated and live your life again.
I have also had the honour of being made an official ambassador for Crohn’s and Colitis UK and it means the world to me. I got to attend parliament with my fellow ambassadors Chris Tarrant, Louise Thompson, and Sacha Dhawan. I cried with happiness because I know that God saved me on that operation table for this very reason, to get changes made for all IBD sufferers and break the poo taboo stigma. The video presented at parliament has also now been entered into a charity video of the year awards. I would love if you could all take one second and vote for it to win. Top tip, when you vote you can click the little box that says opt out from receiving any spam emails from them, you won’t need to worry about getting anything. I would be so grateful if you could vote because we are trying to reach as many people as we can and you all reading this know the struggles, we go through not just with IBD but with body changes, stoma’s and coming to terms with it all overall.
I can’t wait to catch you up on everything else when we next speak
Until then, remember you are already enough and don’t let anyone tell you different.
Lots of love,
Natalie-Amber x
