We were delighted to welcome the Minister of State for Health and Secondary Care, the Rt Hon Andrew Stephenson, to our Cardiff headquarters this month, where we got to showcase our manufacturing capabilities and discuss the needs of ostomates across the UK.
We were proud to show him our ModaVi range rolling off the production line, which as our customers already know, has been developed to not only deliver clinical performance, but with lifestyle in mind. The Minister was interested to hear about the key features that allow ostomates greater independence and more control of their day to day lives in line with our values of ‘putting the person at the heart of everything we do,’ and how the ModaVi product is designed to challenge stigma, make a difference to someone’s life, and not allow people to be defined by a stoma.
We were also able to discuss our importance to job creation in the region, as we employ 250 people across two sites in Cardiff, as well as the continued investment that goes into our R&D, ensuring our product development is always moving forward. Importantly, we showcased our manufacturing hub’s ‘green credentials’ and the fact solar panels ensure our manufacturing processes are delivered via sustainable, green energy, with subsequent CO² savings of 102.54t, also allowing us to use 95% of the energy created with 5% being sent back to the grid.
And of course, crucially, we were able to relay how important customer service is to ostomates and how the work of Respond Healthcare and our community nurses provide a pivotal role in ensuring ostomates get what they need, when they need it. This was reinforced by one of Respond’s customers being on-site and able to provide a real, impactful insight into day to day life and the continued need for customer service excellence.
We look forward to continuing discussions with the Minister and his team in the future, ensuring the voices of ostomates across the country continue to be heard!
